Golden berry (Physalis peruviana), also known as cape gooseberry, Aztec berry, Inca berry or Peruvian cherry, is the fruit from the plant Physalis peruviana. The plant is indigenous to South America but cultivated in England and South Africa. The fresh fruit is a decorative food garnish because of the papery calyx around the fruit. Inca berries are used in folk medicine. The berries are nutritious and high in vitamine C.
